Jio SIM to eSIM Conversion Guide
Follow these steps to convert your physical Jio SIM to an eSIM.
First, ensure your smartphone supports eSIM. Go to Settings > About Phone and look for an 'EID' number. If it's present, your phone is compatible. You can also dial *#06# to see if an EID number appears.
From your existing Jio number, send an SMS with the text 'GETESIM <32-digit EID> <15-digit IMEI>' to 199. You can find both EID and IMEI numbers in your phone's 'About' settings.
After sending the SMS, you will receive a confirmation message with a 19-digit eSIM number and your eSIM profile configuration details. Keep this message safe.
You will receive another SMS asking for your consent to switch to an eSIM. Reply with '1' to 183 within 2 hours to confirm the change.
You will then receive an automated call on your Jio number. You'll be asked to enter the 19-digit eSIM number you received earlier. Enter it using your phone's dial pad to complete the verification.
After about 2 hours, your physical SIM will stop working. Go to Settings > Mobile Network > Add eSIM. Choose 'Scan QR Code' (Jio will email you a QR code) or enter the activation details manually. Your eSIM will be activated.
Important Notes
Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection during the final eSIM configuration step. The process can take up to 2-4 hours to complete. Do not remove your physical SIM until it loses network signal.
